TL;DR
- My Playtime: 2h 4m
- Best Played In:
25 or 50 minute sessions (one run or two), with a friend or two - Worth Your Time? Skip it
Overview
Note: this is a preview version of the game.
A Hades-like roguelike with some neat ideas and a well enough done MMORPG element with light teamwork boosting the experience.
If you haven’t played Hades, start there, unless you are dying for that co-op element and have friends lined up already.
Time Investment and Payoff
Like Hades, the gameplay loop consists of a town area for spending materials between runs and deciding which of four weapons to bring with you into the next one. A run can take anywhere from 15-25 minutes. I played with a friend; we typically had enough in us for two runs at a time. For what it was (again, a preview!) we found it quite unfinished and unfulfilling, but interested in what the full game may have to offer down the line.
Mental Investment
Again, like Hades, fulfillment comes from elegant gameplay. Once it starts to click (at least four or five runs in), the experience heightens.
That said, can absolutely be played in an altered state or before bedtime and enjoyed fully.
Final Verdict
It’s not there yet, but the bones are interesting.
Overall, given the limited time I have to devote to games, I’m unlikely to give the full version a go unless a friend or two are really gung ho.
Longer Thoughts for Anyone Still Here
My friend was quite turned off by how much it seems to borrow from Hades, right down to the NPCs. I mean, come on:

Stuff like this doesn’t tend to bother me much. I’m all for games ripping off other great games and adding their own flavor (in this case, the co-op element), though I can understand how it might make others bristle.
